Newnan-Coweta Habitat’s HOPE program is designed to offer prospective and existing homeowners with FREE educational classes to assist in the pre and post purchase of their home. Below please find a list of classes and a summary for each. When NCHFH homeowner classes are scheduled, information will be available on our website with the dates/times for each.
This class will cover the basics of your homeowner journey. Topics include sweat-equity requirements, sweat-equity recording, expectations on the build-site, and ways to get involved in the community.
Converting from a renter to a homeowner is a big step. This class will breakdown the components of a mortgage and how it affects you and your credit. Your mortgage is made up of a principal payment and your escrow account. We will also discuss how to manage your escrow account and take advantage of potential savings each year.
Come learn about smart practices that will help you make your mortgage payment on time. This class will also cover the process and consequences of foreclosure.
In this class you will learn the basics of budgeting and how to set short and long term financial goals. We will also review the basics of understanding your credit and how to build a strong credit score and report.
Ensure the safety of everyone in your home by learning about the maintenance of safety devices, use of chemicals in the home, and disaster preparedness.
How have you been implementing the practices discussed in Budgeting 101? It’s now time to check in with you, evaluate your progress, and set new goals! We will also discuss long term investments in this class.
You’ve helped to build your home, now learn to perform basic maintenance on household appliances, yard up keep, and other DIY projects around the house.
